"Shearwater 2400 Bay Boat"
This 2005 Shearwater 2400 Bay Boat is 24'6' long and has a Mercury Verado 275HP 4-Stroke with Smart Craft Guages and Digital Throttle System. This 2400 Shearwater has the following features: Bob's Machine Shop Jack Plate, 4 live wells all with high speed pick ups and 4 recirculating pumps, jack plate gauge, 8.5 foot rod lockers, recessed trim tabs, Ameritrail dual axle all aluminum and stainless trailer with brakes and LED tail Lamps. 3 lighted livewells, shark eye lights, stainless latches and a Minn Kota Rip Tide 74 pound thrust trolling motor. Power Pole Shallow Water anchor for fishing the flats. A tower was added 2 months after purchase. The Flats Tower is built by ACE WELDING out of Cape Coral. The tower is 6'3" at the floor and rides on the trailer well away from obstrutions, it's hinged and folding, access gate, crown with back rest, foot rest, Yamaha digital gauges, power pole switch, aft sunbrella top with 4 rod holders, 4 side rod holders, dual chaise tubes, spreader light and florescent light wired to main panel, and one rod holder mounted on top of tower in the crown.
The Shearwater is very dry and comfortable ride. The boat drafts 13 to 14 inches which is awesome for a 24 foot bay boat, for that matter even a 21 foot flats boat. The Shearwater has a maximum seating capacity of 9 people. One of the great advantages of a Shearwater Bay boat over a Flats boat is the fishability of the boat. Multiple people can fish at one time without running into or over each other in the Shearwater set up. The Shearwater is fully foam filled which makes for the smoothest ride I have found on any inshore boat.
The Shearwater is built by Ameritec Industries which is the parent company of American Marine Sports in Groveland, Florida. It was designed to improve or fix the shortcomings of todays' bay boats. Rather than putting out a copy of someone else's design along with their flaws American Marine Sports decided to venture out and meet the needs of the complete angler. They have achieved their goal with the Shearwater. Ameritec Industries has created a boat that can float and run in water under a foot deep. It's also a boat that can take choppy bays and 2 to 4 foot seas without the fear of sinking. The Shearwater is the ideal boat for a fisherman who likes to stalk shallow water snook, redfish, and trout along with deep water fish like grouper, pass tarpon, jewfish, kingfish, and cobia.
