Scientific name: Epinephelus itajara.
Range: Mid Atlantic States all the way to the Gulf of Mexico Also found in in Rivers and Estuaries up and down the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. Diet: Mainly feed on Shrimp, crustaceans, small fish, and other marine life. Name issues: The Red Drum is known by many different names such as: Redfish, Reds, Bronze Torpedo, Puppy Drum, and many others that other locals call them.
Redfish are incredibly strong and are always looking for an easy meal. Redfish can be found tailing searching for crabs or shrimp on the grass flats or seeking small baitfish on the bars. They are built more like torpedos rather than greyhounds and they can pull you all over the flats.
